The Islamic tenets of wisdom and tolerance guide Emirati society, and its leaders have followed these principles to create a stable and sustainable country that has become an example of peaceful prosperity for the Arab world and beyond. This was the key message that Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE, gave in a speech titled ‘A Journey of Wisdom’ on the final day of the 2019 World Government Summit. Islam calls on its followers to be tolerant, a message readily adhered to in the UAE where over 200 nationalities happily co-exist. The country has built institutions to cherish this tolerance, and the visit of Pope Francis this month, February 2019, shows just how effective these measures have proved. The UAE is the highest-ranked Arab nation in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report, and Sheikh Saif concluded by stating the UAE’s ambition is to be ranked first according to every indicator.
