2020 saw a global pandemic that had put the world in an unprecedented lockdown. Scientists, researchers, and governments rushed to develop vaccines to ensure that a global pandemic didn’t lead to a prolonged global catastrophe. Globally, several vaccines have been launched and are already being administered around the globe. However, there are still several challenges that governments need to overcome, such as vaccine availability, logistics, and also minimizing vaccine hesitancy that is on the rise globally. Equitable vaccine distribution requires collaboration to create solutions for the multiple challenges it currently faces, and to make it easier for the world to share the vaccine. In this session, we are joined by H.E. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, H.E. Sultan bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World, Henrietta Fore, Executive Director, UNICEF, Dr. David Nabarro, Special Envoy on COVID-19 of the World Health Organization and Pascal Soriot, Chief Executive Officer of AstraZeneca to share their insights and address what a year ahead with vaccines will look like, and what that implies for nations worldwide.

The share of renewable energy in the power sector would increase from 25% in 2017 to 85% by 2050, mostly through growth in solar and wind power generation. This transformation would require new approaches to power system planning, system and market operations, and regulation, and public policy. With the current turbulence in global markets, will we see a slowdown globally in securing infrastructure for renewable energy or will there be an acceleration? We are joined by, Dr. Ing Christian Burch, President and CEO of Siemens Energy, to share his thoughts on the critical challenges that need to be overcome in the energy sector and how can we overcome them.
