Born in 1949, Eng. Ibrahim Mahlab became the prime minister of Egypt in 2014. In his mission to restore security and safety to Egypt and crush terrorism in the country, he vowed that his administration shall serve the Egyptians and pave the way toward building new Egypt. He provides leadership and direction to government and orchestrates among the ministers to deal with Egypt's challenges, attract foreign investment and eventually increase the economic growth rate. To that end, he genuinely supports the national projects, such as new Suez Canal, establishing a huge network of roads, etc. As well as issuing a number of laws to attract foreign investment.

Prior to that, Mahlab served as a Minister of Housing. His main focus was providing suitable and affordable houses to the middle and low-income classes. He succeeded inproceeding a number of over-years stalled utilities and infrastructure projects, and he managed to accomplishthem. He focused as well, on putting an end to the poor hygiene process. His main strategy was developing time schedule for each project, monitoring execution, takingimmediate corrective actions if milestones and deadlines were not met, and heavily undertook field tours to all projects' locations, all over Egypt. Moreover, he took a number of firm actions to halt the growth of slum areas and combat corruption.

Mahlab was the former CEO and chairman of the board of directors of the well-known and state-owned construction company Arab Contractors Company, one of the largest and leading construction companies in the Middle East and Africa, since 2001. During his tenure, he led a huge management, financial restructuring and turnaround process, which eventually, resulted in debts settlement, and remarkable capital increase that reached up to 18 billion EGP in 2010. Under Mahlab's leadership, the company carried out major construction projects in Cairo such as: bridges, tunnels, sports buildings, monuments restoration and power plants.

He started his career at Arab Contractors Company as a civil engineer by training. Over the next three decades, he supervised major construction projects, and aggressively, moved forward from a post to another until he became the CEO on 2001.

Moreover, Mahlab served as the Chairman of the Arab Contractors Investments Company, the Arab Contractors Employees Insurance fund and the Arab Contractors Sporting Club. Eng. Mahlab served as Vice-Chairman of The Arab Contractors Co. since February 1997 and served as its Director since January 1996. Eng. Mahlab served as Vice-Chairman of the Egyptian Federation of Construction & Building Contractors and Vice-Chairman of the Association of Enterprises for Environmental Conservation. He served as Director of the Civil Engineering Studies & Researches Center- Faculty of Engineering - Cairo University, Building & Housing Researches Center, Governors of the Arab Water Council, El Nasr Castings, Suez Canal Bank and Trustee of French University. Eng. Mahlab is a member of Civil Engineers Community, Egyptian-French Presidential Council, Club d'Affaires Franco - Egyptian, American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham), French University Sponsor Council.

Mahlab graduated from Collège des Frères in Cairo and holds B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Faculty of Engineering - Cairo University (1972). He speaks English and French.
