GCC ministers to discuss ways to enhance customer service through joint efforts in smart government

Key session for the Government Summit announced

His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Government Summit, underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation between the GCC countries, and supporting efforts that promote joint action and sharing of experiences and knowledge to serve the interests of the Gulf citizens.

His Excellency Al Gergawi stated this while announcing the key session titled "Towards Gulf cooperation in the field of smart government" for the Government Summit which is to be held from 10 to 12 February 2014. The session will bring together the Ministers of Communications and Information Technology in the GCC countries to discuss prospects for cooperation and exchange knowledge and experiences to find the best ways to develop customer services based on smart governance to achieve happiness for the peoples of the region.

The session will be attended by Bahrain’s Minister of State for Communications H.E. Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, and Minister of Transportation Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport & Communication, Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Dr. Hessa Al Jaber  Minister of Information and Communications Technology in Qatar, Mr. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Soma, Advisor to Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Director General of Yesser Initiative, and His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Qamzi, Chairman of TRA in the United Arab Emirates.

The Second Government Summit, which is being held under the theme ‘Leading Government Services’, represents an important platform which will be attended by a number of ministers and officials from the GCC. It also represents an annual global forum for government best practices to contribute to the welfare and prosperity of the GCC citizens, added His Excellency Al Gergawi.

His Excellency said the Government Summit deals with a number of themes and key topics that affect the lives of citizens and shed light on ways to improve government services by shifting to mobile technologies. It will also look at ways to meet the challenges and overcome them in line with the aspirations of the communities to ensure their happiness.

In its second edition, The Government Summit will host over 3500 participants and over 60 pioneering speakers from across the world and continues its partnerships with a number of international organisations and institutions such as the United Nations, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the World Economic Forum as a Strategic Partner.
