H.E Mattar Al Tayer outlined in his address how the UAE is a world leader, in terms of ambitious plans for automated taxis, driverless cars and sky pods - designed to form a transport network for high-rise buildings. But he stressed the importance of legislation and joint partnerships between the government and the private sector in regulating automated vehicles on land, road and sea. Technology, Al Tayer pointed out, is being developed at an accelerated pace. Unlike many countries, where the public sector is the “kick start of change”, the UAE has set a different example, with the government leading the way in investment, spending and being at the forefront of embracing technology. This was evident in the establishment of key bodies, such as the Dubai Council for Future, and the Dubai Council for Transportation
