Her Highness Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Abu Dhabi-based Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation (SHF) and directs its vision development in the fields of art, culture, heritage; health; and early childhood development. Her Highness is passionate about creating platforms for the exploration and articulation of the many stories of this young country. SHF builds capability through art and design initiatives including the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship, the Lest We Forget Initiative and the UAE’s Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. She also actively promotes ethical leadership development. SHF is the benefactor for the Rhodes Scholarship for the UAE and Sheikha Mariam is co-chair of the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Scholars Program at NYU- Abu Dhabi. In addition to her work at the Foundation, she holds the position of Honorary Chair of the Special Olympics UAE. She also oversees several initiatives such as the UAE National Day Celebrations and The Founder’s Memorial in Abu Dhabi. Her Highness holds a degree in Family Science and an MBA from Zayed University and completed the executive Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
