Special Session: A Conversation with Saad Al-Hariri

Brief

H.E. Saad Hariri, Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic said reform is a top priority on the ruling party’s agenda, as it aims to attract outward investment back into the country and boost Lebanon’s weak economy. Stating that Lebanon has one of the world’s highest levels of public debt, Al-Hariri said the country aims to reduce its deficit by one per cent in the next five years. While the country suffered setbacks due to the instability in the region and other issues particularly related to Lebanon, such as access to electricity, turbulence caused by years of civil war and in-country corruption, under his leadership, “reforms, reforms, reforms” would top the political agenda. Given that the various Lebanese factions have finally agreed to form a new government of national unity ushers the advent of a promising positive change.
