Automation: Breaking the News

Brief

Artificial Intelligence is already producing news and effectively reshaping journalism, not only in traditional news gathering tasks, but with writing skills as well. Many argue that the subtler art of journalism is harder to digitize. Some of the greatest pieces of journalistic writing have come from instinct and asking the tough questions. In this session, we inspect, with Nathaniel Barling, whether the global news industry is keeping up with the technological innovations that are disrupting journalism. Barling will speak to us on the impeding future of automation in journalism, how we can still preserve the integrity of the newsroom, and enable rather than disable the current and the coming generations of journalists.
